 Hybrid Electric Vehicle
Low emission vehicles that have an electric motor to assist the gas-powered engine. All energy comes from gasoline.

Similar to a hybrid, has a larger battery and electric motor. These also have a gas tank and charging port.

Electric vehicles are powered solely by battery. There are no gas engine parts.

Electric vs. Plug-in Hybrid: What's the difference?
Electric vehicles use motors entirely powered by batteries, while plug-in hybrids use both a motor and gas engine. EVs have larger batteries than plug-in hybrids--which means longer all-electric range. Plug-in hybrids can go in all-electric mode for a shorter range compared to EVs but can then travel in hybrid mode.
Plug-in Hybrid vs. Hybrid: What's the difference?
While both hybrids and plug-in hybrids use a battery-powered motor and a gas engine, plug-in hybrids have bigger batteries than hybrids, which provides you with the option of driving in all-electric mode for a limited range. So while both vehicles recharge with regenerative braking, plug-in hybrid batteries should be recharged with an outlet.

Maine. Even though EV's have far fewer moving parts and generally require less scheduled maintenance than internal combustion engine vehicles, common wear items will still need to be replaced. Vehicles registered in the state of Maine also need a yearly Maine State Inspection Sticker performed at a licensed State Inspection Station.Since manufacturers like Tesla, Rivian, and Lucid do not have dealers or service centers in Maine, it can be challenging to find service for those vehicles.
